Composing Music – Not a wild thing

Yes. There are no hard and fast rules but some well known and used-to forms of music.  This will help to get started.

Once we have a form of music on the mind, then it is like a Blank-yet-Framed painting, waiting to get splashed on from those moody colors. The painter here is the Composer.

Considering the creative liberty in the process, we could break the frame and deform it. Also, can be thoughtful to ensure there is a hook to hang (on to) it.

Composing is fun and engaging. Jokes apart. We are either termed ‘The composer’ or ‘The decomposer’.  The phrase ‘Jokes apart’ should have been here :). Likewise in music, misplaced elements can affect the flow and the intended impact can’t be achieved.

Composing music is an endless journey of learning by listening, imagining, creating and sharing.

Influence of adding lyrics to tunes/melodies

A melody, by itself, can communicate emotions. Lyrics are like adding a price tag to products. We all know some people won’t mind the price, while some do. Trying to equate the affordability to the tolerance level!

Let’s consider a tune.

Notes used in this tune are A, B, C, D, and E. This is the tune.

AEC AEC AECCBCDCBA

DD DDDD DDDDCDECA

Listen to this audio.

This has only the tune.

Now, let’s add lyrics to the same tune.

She dances

She dances

She dances to the rhythm of my heart

She dances

She dances

She dances to the rhythm of my heart

And falls…

And falls.. in love…

And falls.. in love again and again…

She dances

She dances

She dances to the rhythm of my heart

She dances

She dances

She dances to the rhythm of my heart

Now it sounds like this with the lyrics. Listen to the audio.

This is the same tune with lyrics
